Bartending in India
How to become a bartender in India? Bartending the word itself is so much fun. It is definitely a job, which is fun-filled. It has a lot to do with socializing! Bars need bartenders, in fact, they need good bartenders. Now, what is it that would make a good bartender? Can anyone be a bartender? Bartending is definitely a skilled job. Many people might not agree with this point. But from my experience I can tell, “Yes” it is!
What goes into becoming a bartender in India
Every cocktail making has different techniques. Pouring a straight drink using a peg measure can be difficult. You cannot cheat the guest by under-pouring, and pouring excess is not allowed. Knowing and memorizing which guest ordered what is a challenge. Knowing the entire cocktail on the menu is tough. Many of the guests I meet in the bar have a very fixed mindset. They have a feeling of bartending is something that anyone can do. It’s all about pouring a drink in a glass and serving. And anyone can do it. What so great about bartending?
Now if we put the same question to a bartender on what he thinks about bartending. Is it that simple? I wouldn’t think so. From the bartender perspective, it’s a whole different world. Getting a drink and making a drink are two different things all together.
Bartending is about ‘Attention to Details’
There is lots of detail kept in mind while making a drink. An extra ml of ingredients could easily spoil the drink. Making a drink at home and serving your guest than making it in a bar and serving the guest. It’s two different things. And the bars have now understood it. This is what that sets the bartender apart.
So how does a bartender get it right? Like every other profession, there is training required. You cannot get it right without being trained. It’s not rocket science but it’s not that easy as well. This is where bar training school play their role. You don’t need to have a specific qualification; you only need to be passionate about bartending.
Joining a bartending course would always give you an advantage. Learning from the experts would also boost your confident. Know the right from the wrong and the do’s from the don’ts. Know how to use the right technics for making cocktails, the difference in every spirit, how to get your garnish right, Etc. Bars have understood this and the definitely look for bartenders who have done a successfully completed bartending course.
It’s not just about making a good cocktail it also about having product knowledge of what you serving. Every ml of alcohol is money and every drop spilled or over poured is a loss. Not cheating the guest by under pouring and not make a loss to the organization by over pouring. Everything has to be taken care off
So go get yourself trained. Join a bartending course, get trained on how to become a Bartender and get ready for the world of fun.
Happiness is one word
